We're Here!

We made it! We are in Nairobi, Kenya and it is 9 AM Thursday morning. There is an 8 hour time difference between midwest time zone and Kenya - so we are a little delayed in getting the blog updated. We also had to search for an internet connection.... it's a little bit different from the states in that we don't have "hot spots" anywhere to connect too. Right now we are in a cyper cafe. It costs 2 schillings a minute - so for an Hour of internet time that calculates to about $2. Pretty great price, huh? :)

Our flight left an hour late from Des Moines - but we were still able to make all connecting flights. We all tried to sleep on the way to London - but of course its a little tough with a small seat. When in London, we took The Tube (subway) to downtown area. We tried to have fish and chips - but the restaurant was out... Not for sure how that can happen in London??? Then we made our flight to Kenya and arrived at 6 AM Kenya time. You can imagine that we are all excited but also a little tired due to lack of sleep. We had an interesting ride from the airport to the Guest House. Left hand side of the road and the road rules are a little shaky to us Americans. So I am very thankful for our driver, Joe.

In the afternoon, we drove to visit the Masai people. Feel free to Google "masai" on the internet. We had an outside service - see the photo. Some of the people walked more than 40 miles to be a part of the service. All people had a warm smile and heart!

As far as animals go, we have seen zebras, gazelle, baboons, sheep, goats, donkeys...

We love all of you and feel so blessed to be a part of this adventure. We can definitely feel your prayer and support so keep it up!

Love,
The Kenya Missions Team
